While some cats are generally timid, others are more adventurous than even many dogs. These brave cats are often perfect candidates for adventure cats. Not surprisingly, many adventure cats are Bengal cats. Bengal cats are popular because of their active nature, love of water, and love of adventure.

Tara and Mara

++

There are two Bengal cat sisters from another country who love adventure and two amazing humans who love to help them enjoy the outdoors safely. Their adventures are not only fun, but also very cute, thanks to their eye-catching Bengal cat fur.

We interviewed their mama cat to introduce us to this perfect pair of fierce cats, and thankfully she graciously agreed. So, ladies and gentlemen, let me introduce you to Tara and Mara. They are two beautiful kittens born to shine and explore!

How did you come up with their names?

Tara translates to “little palm” (like a palm tree) in Arabic and means gold or “hope” in other languages. Their names must mean something, and there are many nice translations for Tara! To keep it short and meaningful, we chose Mara (a silver charcoal gray tunic), which means “happiness” in Arabic. My family are all Arabs and I lived in the Middle East for two years.

What are their favorite hobbies?

We love to play together! We spend a lot of time snoozing and cuddling together, and when we’re not doing so, we’re usually eating or asking for food!

How do the dogs get along with each other?

They are best friends and we are very happy with that. When Mara was a kitten, we did a lot of work on her in the beginning. Tara took a little time to adjust, but now I can’t imagine being separated from her.

Tell us about their adventures.

Tara was trained for adventure from birth! We took her on her first vacation when she was 4 or 5 months old (camping at Butte Beach). We took her on lots of cool things like boat and ship trips, road trips around Scotland, whale watching, etc.

Mara is also an “adventurer in training.” She is not as confident as Tara, but has progressed a lot in the short time we have been training her. We love watching her gain confidence.

What do you want people to know about Tara and Mara?

They love being with us. I think their bond with us, that is the most special thing about them. No matter what we do or where we go, they are always happy to be with us. Whether we go to Starbucks, have a picnic in the park, or just relax at home, they are always there for us! P.S. Tara’s adventure was featured in the newspaper.

A special “thank you” to Tara and Mara’s faithful companions, Jada and Ben, for allowing us to share their story and photos with Cattitude Daily readers. To learn more about these spirited cats, be sure to visit their Instagram, and if you use TikTok, check out their cool videos as well!
