A couple of related kittens have never left each other’s side since they were found together on the street.

Late last year, a Montreal shelter contacted another cat rescue organization, Chatons Orphelins Montréal, about two related kittens that needed help.

Earlier this month, rescuers went to the shelter to retrieve an injured stray cat that had been hit by a car. Not only did they find the cat, but also her two small kittens.

The feline siblings were huddled together and would not let go. Both had adorable goatee marks on their chins as if they had a permanent smile on their faces.

The rescuers could not let the kittens fend for themselves. They picked them up and took them to a safe place.

While the cat’s mother was rushed to the vet for life-saving surgery, the kittens were transferred to Orphaned Kittens Montreal so they could begin socializing in the comfort of a loving foster home.

“They were treated for worms, but otherwise they were healthy and fit,” said Love Meow.

The stray cat had done an excellent job of raising his kittens and keeping them fed and strong before being found. When they arrived in foster care, they were ready to adapt to the indoor cat life.

“They were a little shy at first and stuck together like glue to feel safe, but they soon warmed up with their humans and started exploring the house from room to room”.

The kittens, Babett and Tapeo, follow each other around the house. They echo each other and throw themselves in the air: if one of them starts playing, the other one quickly follows.

“They are attracted by the play of feathers and are very playful and curious. They are always exploring (together) and looking for things to play with. As soon as you pick up a feather stick, they both come running,” shared the rescue with Love Meow.

When they’re not running around the house, they cuddle, get ready, and smile happily.

The kittens have grown in size, confidence, and affection over the past few weeks. They stay close to their own, so whenever they ask for extra attention or hugs, their humans are always close at hand.

“As soon as you look at them, they start purring. They’ll come and hug you when you turn on their purring engines.”

Brother Tapeo is a little dynamo who doesn’t want to miss any action. He insists on joining his sister every time she gets a hug, and won’t take no for an answer. Babett is gentle and calm. Together they are the perfect duo.

“If Babett jumps on the couch to snuggle with her humans, her brother will follow her. They are connected at the hip and cannot be separated”.

The cat’s mother has completely recovered and is enjoying her new life as a center of attention. She will never have to go through another pregnancy again and will have a safe and warm home.

After two months of foster care, the feline siblings have found the family of their dreams. They have stayed together in their home forever and will never be separated.

“Tonight they sleep happily in their new home. It is truly a dream come true”.

Babett and Tapeo go about their daily business like a tight couple. They fight, chase each other when they play, and kiss each other before going to sleep.
